About me

Born in Italy, I graduated summa cum laude in Economics before working in the banking sector for over a decade.

There are rare moments in your life when one sees oneself from the outside and discover aspects that you never realised were there, or recognised as belonging to you.

This is exactly what happened to me during a spontaneous journey to Ravenna.

That journey changed my life irrevocably. It was at that time that I realised that there was something missing in my job: beauty.

I was fascinated by the ancient mosaics there and the power of this art form to capture sunlight and play with colour.

Observing the reflections of the light through the interstices of the mosaic, I  thought about the long journey of that specific ray of light coming from a star in a remote corner of the universe.

A ray of light coming to play with those mosaic tesserae before continuing its journey. In that moment, stars were nearer to us than never before.

The light creates all the colours of the visible spectrum. It’s the extraordinary palette of nature.

I swiftly became passionate about the craft of mosaic.

Initially I learned mosaic technique only as a hobby. I would never have thought to become a mosaic artist.

Eventually my passion grew to such heights that I was challenging myself to create works of greater intricacy and further complexity.

These days when I am about to start a new project, I love to linger surrounded by my materials.

To feel the smooth and pleasant surface of the enamels in my hand, to observe the kaleidoscope of glass and colours surrounding me…the scent of these substances intoxicating me with every breath… I observe and think and suddenly my thoughts begin to guide my hands. It’s an engaging sensation.

There’s no activity, belief or even emotion that is not mediated by and through the objects that we are surrounded by.

I think that mosaics are a vessel for emotion, elation and inspiration and that when we view them, these powerful sensations are freed. It is in that moment of sight that something changes inside ourselves and eudaimonia begins.

The light shines even when not observed. It bears secret messages that inspire me to create beauty.

Being a glass mosaic artist is a dream and when one can realise such a dream, it is an incredible and fortunate life to lead.
